You Have to Take Advantage of Opportunities

Brazil has been a leader in developing and implementing multi-stakeholder governance of the Internet, where government, private sector, academia, civil society organizations and Internet professionals perform this function. The book examines how the Internet came to Brazil, how it has developed, how it is governed, and why its future development is strategic for achieving national goals. This chapter deals with the last of these issues, presenting arguments for putting the Internet at the center of Brazil’s strategy for achieving better future.

The authors introduce the scientific term “cyber help” meaning the use of Internet resources and technologies by individuals to resolve vital problems. This notion is intended to add to the characteristics of information society development in Russia. Cyber help is asserted to have a special significance for socially important areas of life – health, education and social policy. Activities of an individual in the context of cyber help are considered as compensation of lack of public resources in rendering available and high-quality services to the population.

Foundation of the Theory of Integrated Communications: Definition and Approaches

The article aims to single out distinctive features of the theory of integrated communications (IC) and integrated marketing communications (IMC). The author correlates basic theoretical ideas dealing with IC and IMC, differentiates between approaches to conceptualizing these notions according to the discipline attribute, and specifies definition of the integrated communications. Results of the research allow clarifying specifics of allegedly interchangeable notions.

Social Space of Tourism in the Information Society

The article analyzes the issues of transforming social space of tourism in the context of ICT and information society development. It describes social space of tourism taking into account the technology shift and change of the socio-economic formation. The advantage of the work is scientifically founded suggestions for development of ICT infrastructure of tourism harmonized with the principles declared by the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
