The article considers the phenomenon of state identity and its transformation in the era of society informatization. The author analyzes main trends of information society development that affect shaping of state identity, and the issues that have significant importance for state governance practice: identity multiplicity, identity crisis in the national state, transformation of “citizen – state” relations system.

Theoretical Aspects of Social Network Modelling

The article considers the notion of “social network” in term of social theory. It is noted that network analysis is an efficient method of researching political processes in international relations. Informal relations of individuals through social network enhance information exchange. Considering wide-spread penetration of social networks, their impact on the social environment in certain countries and worldwide, researching this phenomenon acquires ever greater importance both in theoretical and practical terms.

The Problem of Information Consumerism

Today’s era features explosive growth of information flow. A person is not capable to process huge volume of information with high quality, that is why conscience disintegrates, inner world loses its depth, while an interested eye rides on the surface of information diversity without properly comprehending rich content of received data. This results in phenomenon of superficial information consumption.

Law Enforcement System of the Russian Federation in the Context of the Information Society

The article is devoted to specific features of functioning of the law enforcement system in the course of the information society development. It analyzes criteria, according to which implemented lines of activities can be considered as those in line with the information society. The author concludes that law enforcement sector is included in this process only formally, with the form prevailing over content.

Exteriorization of Corporate Media in Online Technology Era: Communications Aspect and Social Consequences

Special attention is paid to peculiarities of practical operations and content quality of new corporate media.

IT for Libraries: Time of New Solutions

The article is devoted to issues of developing software tools designed to automate library technologies.

The authors have analyzed the situation showing pre-requisites of creating the next-generation automated library IT system. The article singles out groups of requirements of both libraries and users to the next-generation automated library IT system.

On the basis of these requirements the main principles for the development of a next-generation automated library IT system, including modern architectural solutions, using up-to-date development toolkit, original solutions and know-hows, are determined.

Based on experience of creating MegaPro automated integrated library system, the authors demonstrate the tasks they solved, present characteristics and functionality of the system.
